Noted events in his life were: • His obituary was published in the Yarmouth Register in 1884 in South Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. "David Matthews was a useful citizen, possessing a large heart full of kindness and sympathy for the poor and suffering. He was interested in the cause of religion and assisted greatly in sustaining the gospel. He was a peacemaker, delighting in promoting the best good of others in an unobtrusive manner. He had a kind word for children, and several would be with him when he was able to go out. His removal was a loss to the community where he was so useful. 'Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.' " David married Emeline Hallett [6232] [MRIN: 2416], daughter of Living and Living, on 12 Apr 1835 in South Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.1 (Emeline Hallett [6232] died on 21 Aug 1849 1.) David next married Laura A. Hallett [6241] [MRIN: 2422], daughter of Living and Living, on 17 Nov 1850 in Massachusetts.1 (Laura A. Hallett [6241] died on 15 Jan 1888 1.) |
