He is a descendant of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins, through his mother Polly Hopkins. Noted events in his life were: • He was buried at the Bass River Bapist Church Cemetery in Bass River, Barnstable County, Massachusetts in 1886. 1 • He appeared on the Federal census between 1850 and 1880 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. 1 John is found in Yarmouth, MA Census records in 1850, 1855, 1860, 1870 and 1880. His occupation is listed as Seaman and Fisherman.
