• She was involved in a court case after 1674 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts. 5 "After Robert Hazeltine's death, his widow sued Nathan Webster for killing her mare and he was sentenced to pay costs and damages. The warrant was served by Abraham Haseltine, constable of Bradford, Mar. 1676-77.
Robert Hesseltine, aged about twenty years, deposed that this past winter when his mother Hezeltine's mare was killed he was at the house of his cousin Nathan Webster [cousin by marriage] and asked him who he thought killed her and he said he did. Deponent asked him again and he said "Yea I think it was I." The day after the mare was killed Nathan Webster was at their house and said he would carry home his plain shoes till he went to kill more horses again.
David Haseltine and ABRAHAM HASELTINE of Bradford testified that after they heard that their mother's mare was killed they saw tracks where a man with plain shoes had gone into the field, a dog following him, and found a piece of tow which had been the wadding of a gun, the mare having been shot with a bullet. They tracked the man to the highway and to the house of said Webster, etc. Nathan Webster affirmed that Anna Haseltin told him the mare was Robert's before his Father died. Nathan also speaks of his "uncle Robert Haselton." Nathan Webster married Mary Hazeltine, daughter of John [Robert's brother], and so was a cousin by marriage to Robert Hazeltine, Jr."
